About Jeryc Garcia

Before becoming a full-time photographer, Jeryc Garcia was an award-winning advertising creative and the founding editor of the Philippine edition of Rodale’s Men’s Health magazine. He went to college hoping to become a journalist or screenwriter, but his interest soon shifted toward photography and cinematography after doing camerawork on a number of school projects. After graduation, not finding any mentors to show him how to improve his craft, he turned to the works of the photographers he admired, as well as old issues of Popular Photography and American Photo. In 2002, eight years after receiving his first byline as a writer, he is finally also credited as a photographer in a local adventure magazine.

Jeryc specializes in location and destination photography and creates images for various local and international clients. His work has been showcased at the Angkor Photo Festival in Siem Reap, Cambodia and at the PDN PhotoPlus Expo in New York City. He recently completed a documentary on the days in the life of urban women in the Philippines for Unilever and is now touring his portraits of surviving Filipino WWII veterans in an exhibit called VALOR.

Jeryc is currently based in Southeast Asia and is available for editorial, commercial, institutional, and art commissions anywhere in the world.
